When I got my Bell 47, I called ALL of the neighbors for which I had numbers. I told them that I had just got a helicopter, I would be landing at my house and if I was creating any problems for them, PLEASE call me and let me know. I also mentioned that there were several other helicopters that fly in our area and that a noisy helicopter may not always be me.

I made an offer to each of my neighbors to take them up for a ride. So far 6-7 of them have taken me up on it and whenever possible I have landed at their place so they could get some pictures.

I also asked them for numbers for the neighbors that I didn't have and to pass on my contact information and offer of a ride to anybody who might be interested.

...so far no problems with the neighbors and not a single call about the noise :peace:

Glenn
P.S. Rocky she's a beauty  congrats!

Congrats on the purchase.

I have more fun flying my helicopter than anything else. Being able to land just about anywhere is great. Fly over to a golf course to play a few holes, drop into Starbucks for a coffee, take of the doors and go shoot some wild boar, etc.

The R44 is a great ship and nothing even comes close to it for the $. The next step up is a big one, and that's the reason it's taken me so long to make the turbine leap.

You found a Starbucks that allows you to land?

Back when I was working on my rotor ticket, there was a wing place that did. It was a great place to practice confined area landings.

Land, shutdown, have some wings, fly back out again.

I really want a helo, but SWMBO said "no, too dangerous."

Permit from who? City? County? Hoa?

[D] All of the above.

Use as a 'landing strip' of anything that is not zoned for it (e.g. 'light industrial') may require a conditional use permit or variance. Read your county/city zoning ordinance. And if you have a HOA, you are pretty much DOA.
