Great idea. Suspending from the ceiling is a must, but also consider mounting it so the nose section sticks outside. It will serve as a window and you will be able to observe all the airport activity from the helm. It would be easy to seal off around the edges.
It would be a bold man cave statement.

Think big Man! The front 30' of a 747-400 would give you a cockpit, a bunk room and almost the entire first class section! Not to mention the electronics bay below for the stereo equipment. Oh yea, almost forgot the 3 blue rooms. Sadly, no galley Rusty

You mention an apartment so my guess is that you will have a main sleeping area and this addition would be essentially a guest room. In that case Google "Hidden Desk Bed" It was developed by someone in South America who holds the patents and furnishes the hardware to local carpenters around the world. The advantige is that you get to work with somone local. I have one in my office for my computer desk with two 27 inch monitors and lots of desk space. I leave the monitors, keyboard, clutter exactly where they are and fold the bed down when I want an extra bed.
