Phil Yes..... after I fly it a bunch here in Cali this winter. I still need to familiarize and explore the performance limits, practice short field, stalls etc.

Mike congrats......getting ready huh? East Coast vs West Coast  Get that practice in. I did 2 take-offs and 5 landings myself yesterday

I'm way shorter in the A36. Practice Practice Practice. I'm just learning where the knobs are. It was such a hellacious journey to get that thing back, I just need to sleep for awhile.

Work up to it slowly.
Do a bunch of FULL stalls. Power on and off.
Then, short final at 1.3 Vso, 1.2 Vso, 1.1 Vso, 1.05 Vso. On that last one, you won't have any energy left for a flare, and pulling back on the yoke will just make you hit hard. At 2 feet off the ground, give it a very slight (2-4 inches MP) goose of throttle, and then pull it back immediately. Talking about one-half second, here. Pull it all the way out. As fast as you can, and you'll touch down softly as the power goes completely out.

Congrats on the new ride Mike. You'll love the utility of it for sure. I agree with the others, VG's is a must. I just put them on my Rans and put them on the Citabria. I could not believe what a difference it made.
As far as the colors, the old school scheme is cool but I think maybe a grey would look good in place of light blue. JMHO.....

Fun stuff!!! I've only gone 30 degree flaps on landing so far......(about 5 landings total)... and the thing drops like a rock... I can't imagine the 40 degree setting. I KNOW it will take a puff of power just about at flair. I plan on doing the exercise you suggest. I did that with the bonanaza and it teaches you much of what you need right away..... thanks
