I always removed the right rear seat and folded up the left rear seat. This gave you plenty of room in the back. You could then move the center seats way back for great leg room. CG is NEVER an issue with a Baron. Best darn twin on the planet. B55 with 550s - only way to go!!

Malibu - trust me - buy one and she will love you. I have to torment my wife for a bit in the Glasair and then I am buying one.

Hey are nice planes. The range was always an issue for me....my family wasn't spending more than 3.5 hours in the plane without stopping - any plane, including my current one.

3.5 hours in a mustang is 1.0 hours more than necessary. I wish I had your problems. :D

The 5th and 6th seat remove in about 1 minute, although even with them installed there is leg room in #3 and 4 for a couple NBA players. Where the Baron lags the Cirrus and Malibu is width so it lacks a bit in shoulder room. I agree with Todd on the B55 although it does pretty good with 520's too!

The 520s on the B55 are nearly as good and I would buy another one of them also. The 550s will make a little more power up high and make the same power at 2700 that the 520s make at 2800 or 2850. Both are great engines for the plane!

The passenger entry into the Malibu is nicer and the cabin comfort is better also. Getting into the pilot seat is interesting, but that really does not matter. It is not like you are making 2 minute trips in a car getting in and out all the time.

It just matter what you are looking for. I think if I was mostly staying low (below 10k or so) and over bad terrain most of the time I would probably take the Baron. If I wanted to go long x-country I would take the Malibu. Both are great planes.

I doubt if I will sell it. It is kind of a love/hate relationship. I love the way the plane flys and I really will love the new avionics. I hate the fact that I cannot put the panel I am getting into a Malibu. That alone will probably keep me in the Glasair and out of the Malibu. The avionics and autopilot are so far ahead of what is available in certified that it is comical. There is a lot of safety built into the avionics package I have selected - Dual Air data and attitude computers, dual screens, autopilot with straight & level button and intelligent altitude pre-select, SVT, HITS, simple battery backup, self diagnostics, ability to adjust autopilot gains through the screens, etc. All this for under $20k. This would be at least $100k in any other plane if it were even available.

You want to see used airplane prices go up? Allow the G3X and autopilot to be installed in part 91 aircraft 12500lbs and below.

Adam I think you have the best looking Baron I have ever seen. Every time you post a picture I have to look for long periods of time. Amazing paint scheme.

Easy big fella!!!!

No way people talking about a Baron like a fat chick.

Hot thing that requires a little more attention and high end maintenance......would be how I've seen her discussed........

Now lets keep the talk about the ladies appropriate.

Baron = Supermodel

I'll let the rest of the fellas let us know what the other models are in relation too.

:cheers:
