Rick,

We've never met, but based on your BT persona I'd vote you most likely to own a Grumman Goose....

Rick,

I know a bit more about these than some, give me a call. Maybe call Master if you have his number as I am travelling with him and that will be kinder on my phone bill

Otherwise Skype me.

I have about 30 hours PIC in the NA GA8 (no time in TC) and much more than that as a back seater, all of it with Civil Air Patrol. Its not fun to fly.

'ferry the airvan to indiana' is a informal disciplinary measure in md wing ;-)

Yep, sounds about right.

I've never flown a CAP airplane to MD because of the bureaucracy involving crossing a region border. Only time I ever crossed into another region was when I flew to National for ARCHER training. When I bought my plane, it was a bit of a shock that I could go to MD and DE without asking anyone's permission!

My membership lapsed two years ago and I haven't been too interested in renewing.

That sounds familiar. The headaches are a bit unit specific. MD wing has more lawyers than pilots but no real mission. I switched to ND wing, more flying, less paper pushing.

Not too glamorous, but it looks like there are still plenty of them out there that would follow you home if you waved $50k at them. We used one with a "coffin" door mod one time that would actually make a decent small freighter. It worked great to haul a crated PT-6.

Back to the Beech front, I have a friend who flies King Airs and 18 quite a lot and his thinking is that the Beech 18 is a half speed King Air 350. Same useful load, half the speed, half the fuel burn, half the operating cost per mile, and about 10% of the acquisition cost.
