JG,

The Cirrus market is largely now a commodity. For those with access to the actual sales price data they can give you very accurate price picture of the plane and what it will sell for in the marketplace. The ones who have that data are the major Cirrus resellers or brokers. Sorry, but that is just the way it is.

Tim

Tim is 100% correct. One of my best friends (who I have known for almost 20 years and who I trust implicitly) is one of the largest Cirrus pre-owned brokers in the world. He and his partner sold over 80 Cirri last year. They obviously have access to real world data on these airplanes and their values and they also share their sales data with the other really large pre-owned Cirrus brokerage firm. They don't, however, share their data with Vref, BlueBook, etc. Nor do I for that matter.

I have a few hours and enjoyed flying the SR-22GTS.

Research the cost of the annual along, with insurance. Understand the total cost of ownership and the hours you're planning to fly it.

John,

You know, that is not really a nice thing to say. There are a few brokers right here on BT that are stand up guys and will tell you if a plane is a decent deal. There are a few lawyers also here that are good guys. Labeling a person as a BSer when you don't even know them is just as bad as calling a someone a name due to the color of their skin. I usually find people that do not trust someone they have never met usually is this way because they are the same way - just sayin...

Todd,

Thanks...it needed to be said.

Mike buschs group has something like 10% of the cirrus fleet under their care. They can help keep maintenance reasonable. There are plenty of new owner meets crazy service center stories. But it does not have to be that way.

John,

I'm not surprised your offer was declined. You won't be able to purchase a 2005 average or better condition (& time) SR22 for $160k unless you find a distressed sale.

I've owned a dozen or so planes including three Barons and a Bonanza and a few years ago did extensive market research on the SR22 models and values. I evaluated around 100 of them and physically inspected about 10 of them before buying my 2006 GTS with all the options except air conditioning and a turbo. I do also have dual WAAS. I can tell you my investment was well into the $200's and the market as I've seen it now in my third year of ownership has been fairly stable and in some cases trending up.

In the event your interest returns, I'd recommend you join COPA for the $60 bucks or so a year and use their vast resources to learn the model differences. There are specific items I wanted the s/n change over point was important.

BTW, you would be hard pressed to find a 2005 or later SR22 that does not have TKS.

And yes, there are a few truly good honorable brokers. Very few I am afraid.

And the bad are terrible.

Mike,

This airplane has been on and off the market for 3to 4 years. Have seen airplane but not reviewed logs or done pre buy. Made an offer subject to full inspection twice assuming no red flags. Feel sure that maintenance has been "get by" but that is an assumption. Known issues are one year out from chute AD and no waas upgrade. I have made my best offer and don't care to beat dead horse. I was asked to make another offer and did. Anyone want to join the rodeo call Tim palsa at 870-830-8359.

I wish it had worked out, JG. Would have enjoyed hearing your experience when entering with a touch of apathy toward model.

Nate,

I like the Cirrus. No apathy.
