To Chute, or not to Chute
I would add within 24 months for $15K or less 13%  13%  [ 36 ]
I would add within 24 months for $20K or less 13%  13%  [ 36 ]
I would add within 24 months for $25K or less 14%  14%  [ 38 ]
I would add within 24 months for $30K or less 8%  8%  [ 23 ]
I would add within 24 months for $35K or less 3%  3%  [ 8 ]
I would add within 24 months for $40K or less 9%  9%  [ 26 ]
I would add sometime in the distant future 5%  5%  [ 15 ]
I have no interest in a chute for my Bonanza 35%  35%  [ 98 ]

For $10,247 and 44.4#, I'd do it in a heartbeat. If you could put the weight forward of the cg, that would be a huge bonus.

I'll be surprised if there's ever a BRS available for my V-tail. If there is, it'll be $50,000.

Put a chute in a TKS/TAT/tip tank and see if you can keep them on the shelf. They would sell like crazy. Beechcraft needs to accept that others have/could improve their products.

The question is why would anyone buy a Cirrus if you could get a G36 with a chute?

Unfortunately it's going to come with a useful load DEcrease !

But if BRS (or someone) can do the engineering and testing and prove that it can be fitted to a bonanza AND show that the "landing" forces are survivable at gross.
Then yes I'd take the useful load decrease (a reasonable one , let's say no more than 50Lbs?) and pay 20k or more install and 1k/year reserve.

That last resort option is worth that amount.

I am thinking about this for my RV-7 build but 44 pounds is not insignificant in an RV -especially when I weigh 220lbs. I would like to know what the vertical g load is in an RV hitting the ground under a chute. I spoke to the BRS folks at OSH last summer but want more specific data. I am really torn on this as it could significantly effect the performance and utility of my RV. The A36 would be another story. Retrospectively I would pay anything to save myself or passengers life but looking forward I'm not sure how much is too much $$. If it costs north of 10 AMU to just repack a Cirrus chute, I can't imagine what a certified install on a Bo would be. I bet 50k. At that point I might as well spend that and hang a second engine on the plane :tape:

I just wonder where they would put it. I would think they would have to do some sheet metal work by fabricate some kind of bubble on the top of the BO. I saw there was a quote of 15k for a 182 install, but i wonder what the price of a repack is?

Per the BRS website, here is the info for the Cessna 182 chute.
$14,999
3100lb max weight
155mph max deploy
10yr repack cycle
85lb system weight
22x23x39 length, width, and depth in inches

A 4000lb Bonanza capable system would probably cost and weigh more. Their 172 system is good to a max weight of 2,250lbs, weighs 79 lbs, and is dimensionally smaller. So, I'll guess it would weigh 90lbs and take up the entire extended baggage compartment of an A36.

How about adding two of the C172 chutes? Its a lot of weight though.
