Sven,

Happy to talk to your brother or show him the Mits if he wants to see one. We're literally 30 min from each other...

Dave, thanks for that offer! I will pass it on to him.... When I ran the idea by him he was still staunchly in the single engine camp. I reminded him you can buy a lot of Jet A for the difference in capital outlay between the two planes.

Correction - you can buy a lot of JetA with the ongoing earnings on the difference in capital outlay...

For me, capital cost is the single biggest cost of ownership (private owner/operator, fairly low time per year). The money I earn on the capital cost saved by not owning a relatively new-ish TBM covers my entire operating cost for the year. Even on an older used TBM, the difference covers nearly all of my fuel cost for a year.

Ps - Glenn, you should talk to Ken Andrews. He is one of at least three MU-2 owners I know of who had aerostars and moved to MU-2s. All three say their dispatch reliability went up and costs went DOWN when they made the shift. I'd be happy to put you in touch with him.

Drats, that is a good sales pitch. Where is that Trade a Plane!

Would there be any benefit to going for just one day? There is about a snowball's chance in hell that I'll actually be able to get an entire weekend off, but I may be able to swing a Friday or a Saturday only.

I may be flying my company's Caravan by the end of the summer so getting more knowledge of turbine ops than I already have would be a good thing.

Unless your Caravan is one of the few that has been converted to a 331, they have little in common with the Mu2.

No just a -42. I thought I remembered someone saying there was a bunch of stuff that applied to all turbines not just the 331's

Yes, there would be some benefit to only going for one day. The schedule for the two days is on the TAS website. You could coordinate with Carol Cannon if you are only coming for one day.

I just returned from the PROP in Columbus OH this weekend. This was the first one I had attended. I am glad I decided to go since I just bought my MU-2 a couple of months ago. It was a very professional two day seminar. I found the accident analysis as the most interesting part for me and that any pilot could benefit from attending. It really makes you look at your flying habits and decisions you make. You think it would never happen to you but it makes you realize these guys were just like most of us. If you get distracted or complacent it only takes a second for things to go bad. Mitsubishi was there showing their continuing support also which was very comforting since I am a new owner of one. It was also nice having Reece Howell in the right seat for the trip. I will definitely attend the next time the PROP's come around.

For those interested in more MU-2 porn, here is the profile video they showed at PROP. They profile 4 pilots and I was fortunate to be one of them...
