I've been on this forum for about a year, but never really posted much. I have been flying for about 3 years. I got started when I moved to a new town and didn't know anyone, so I had time to fly several times a week. I currently have 500 hours, about 150 in an A36, about 250 in an RV-6. I am instrument rated, and HP, cplx, and tail wheel endorsed. I have recently gotten interested in Baron's, and am leaning toward a 58. My wife likes the barn doors and club seating of the Bonanza, as well as the extra engine and weight of the plane to not be as susceptible to air movement. I am not yet multi rated, but have 25 hours in a Duchess.

I fly from Central Texas as far as South Dakota, Florida, and Vegas a couple times per year, but most of my flying is over flatlands.

I enjoy the range of topics on this site, from type specific forums, to crash talk, and for sale postings.

Nobody knocks a 58 except for cost. If it fits your budget, go for it!

Welcome aboard.

That's funny! As soon as I hit submit, I thought "someone is going to say without pics, the RV doesn't exist". I went through my phone looking but don't have any. I'll go by the hangar to get one and post tomorrow.

These will have to do for now. The dog in the Bonanza, and the wing of the RV flying over the Grand Canyon last week.

Pete, what is "cpix"? That is a new one on me.

Looks like you are at Georgetown. I sure was sorry when we lost the airport in Austin, Mueller was one of my favorite places ,both for airlines and for gen aviation, but the old saying "Greed never sleeps" is sure true when someone wants your airport.
I flew a show at Georgetown in the late 90's, and the line guys put Corvis smoke oil in my engine oil. I was suspicious when I saw the oil being pumped out of a drum and something didn't look right, but they swore it was Phillips 25W-60. Just minutes later they came running up and said some nut had used the Phillips drum to put smoke oil in, all without telling anyone or labeling the drum.
I had not started the engine yet, so no harm done, but a lot of extra work to drain out and replace about 12 gallons.
It was fun to fly there in those days, with no tower to get in the way. Beth from Devil Dog is a friend from years back.

Welcome to BT. I was in Georgetown last Wednesday for an overnight visit with friends. Great place to stop and of course your $4.75 gas was a huge bonus. Good luck with your 58. I love mine. Your tower is a big help too.
