Some guy has built a 1:60 scale 777 - complete with retractable gear, thrust reversers, etc - out of manila folders. Nuts....

Oh My Gosh... the detail is beyond belief. Boeing should hire him, he knows how all the parts work, at least at 1:60 scale. I respect and admire the craftsmanship but don't understand the dedication or desire.

Wow

My guess is that he has asperger's syndrome or some form of mental illness. The skill is incredible but as you note, the time invested is not normal. You see that he has dropped our of college to work on it?

I've been blown away. :bugeye: wow

On one hand, I can't help but feel somehow sick about this much work, skill, time and dedication going into a scale model in a medium as obscure and crappy as Manila folders

But on the other hand, I look at the crap I've produced in the last couple of years and what I've got to show for it and I think "hell, that's pretty damn magnificent" :D

I'm guessing he's single. :D

I do like the simulated-sheepskin on the cockpit seats. Well played, sir.

I would think that an actual 777 would take less time to build

Oh. My. God. And he produced all those videos during his lunch breaks, I guess. Honestly, I hope some other madman pays him millions of dollars for it when he's finished. Although, after all that effort, maybe he just wants to look at it for a decade or so.

I'm awestruck and humbled. Did you see the hinges on all the doors?

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss him as mentally ill, but he sure does make all the normal folks look bad!

You need to watch this video of the paintwork. At least skip to 6:20 for the final results. The amount of work put in for such a subtle effect is staggering.
