The democrats in Washington state (DC too) need to realize that they are fighting other democrats in this battle. There was just an article in the St Louis (com)Post Dispatch that MO gov Jay Nixon (D) and the city of St Louis are in the running for the 777X assembly. I suspect a big tax-break package will be offered. Not sure one can fault a manufacturer for going after tbe biggest break when looking to expand. At least Boeing seems to want to keep assembly in the US.

Doubtful that Boeing will choose Long Beach even thought the facilities exist there. When McDonnell Douglas was building the MD-11 they moved post production rework to Mojave to avoid the union and tax problems. They were doing upwards of 80,000 man hours of re work on those aircraft. Hard to believe that those issues went away and that Boeing would commit to a complete new assembly line there.
