You mean that novel technique of hand-riveting planes over wooden jigs ?
Fwiw, at OSH I talked to a gentleman who works for Enstrom. According to him, the involvment of the chinese owners has been nothing but positive.

The Mooney doesn't have circuit breakers in the way like the Beech. The on board oxygen would be in the way and I'm not sure what else. We'll see if it actually happens but, if true, they would be crazy not to re-start with a pilot side door. I just hope it doesn't weigh too much. Hopefully it means that parts will remain available.

There is also a concerted effort by the chinese goverment to grow a domestic aviation industry. James Fallows recently published a book about that effort. The numbers slated to be put into aviation infrastructure development are staggering.

I would buy an Ovation 5 for 250k Cheap stuff from china can be a good deal. I have a Champion electrical generator that I bought about 10 years ago. As I dont use it much, eventually the fuel gummed up the carburetor. I called the 1-800 number given on the unit itself to get a carb overhaul kit. They told me that they only sell complete carburetors, but for $30 on the entire carb I couldn't really complain. 3 days later, I was back in business.

Lord o mighty let us fear the Chinese for have less than one tenth of one percent of the GA airports that we have. You can't get access to the full internet let alone today fly n aircraft in China. They are buying America.
I yea yea the good thing about history is it repeats itself. Japan in the eighties were buying everything in the US because somehow their system of government and private industry partnership, as they called it the was somehow superior to ours.
My favorite story from the eighties was Marvin Davis selling Pebble Beach to the japs for eight hundred million financed by Mitsubishi Bank since one else would provide the financing. Maybe ten years later old Marvin bought it back from the bankruptcy for three eighty.
So today the Chinese have taken a couple pages from the Jap play book with cheap labor, cheap currency and government financed enterprises.
Well we all know were this will all end. Nihao our Chinese brothers bring us your yuan.

Gary, You beat me to the punch. I was also going to mention that fact that in '80's, the Japanese were buying up everything in sight. I recall specifically when they bought the Sears Tower in Chicago for nearly a billion bucks. A few years later when their economy ran into a buzz saw, they sold it for 1/4 of what they had paid for it. So, I agree that history has a way of repeating itself. We can sit back and enjoy the developments. I love the fact that they are investing those dollars here and not anywhere else. Keep the investment dollars (or yuans) coming!
