It would save additional weight to go with an Aspen. I just pulled out over 136lbs of wire, old radios and boxes, so that's a lot. But I'm also tapped out after received the avionics bill that was about $30K more than I'd expected...

$30k over budget and doesn't work? Might I suggest that you tell the shop they will receive the money just as soon as their install functions as intended?

Nothing surprising about that in the avionics biz.

I've known more than a few that paid big money to learn that critical items do not work after they head home from the install.

The shops have an endless list of excuses for any situation.

Sure thing. It's a south-of-the-border plane that's been sitting for quite some time, waiting for the owners to transfer her to the US registry before she can be dealt with. Might take a month, might take another 10 years.

Good find, John! I'll investigate!

UPDATE: It's a 980, low time, low engine times, but has been sitting for over 10 years. And in Indonesia.

It is an early 980 with a KFC 300 AP.

The earlier models below serial number 95040 usually have the 425 gallon tanks not the long range 474 gallons found on later 980s.

Still a low time everything airplane, but what damage are they referring to?

No idea. Probably the damage of sitting outside in heat and humidity for a decade.

It's s/n 95019, sold to Indonesian Army in the 80's, formerly PK-ORD.

Not clear this is worth more than $0.

Sitting 10 years near salt water, I'd expect there is very little of it that is serviceable.

It's already sold and has done engine runs.

That's odd....the seller just updated the Salvex listing. Perhaps the guys in the video bought it to resell?
