It seems that a lot of helicopter accidents are related to pilots attempting to make considerable use of their extra capabilities by pushing the limits pretty far. I'd bet that if you refrained from scud running, avoided seriously confined landings/takeoffs, hot dogging, etc. you'll probably be at least as safe as you've been in the floatplane if not safer (at least you shouldn't encounter and submerged logs).

Sort of like saying an Ag plane is dangerous... It just lives in a dangerous neighborhood.

I have only ridden in an R44 once, and compared to a Bell 47G2B3R2D2(whatever) it seemed turbine smooth. Nice ride! :thumbup:

Fly a 550 yesterday...I was requested to maintain 250knts or greater for an entrail AA Jet. Fun watching the distance stay the same over a period of time. Also 0 closure rate.
