The plane would not rotate at Vr. In the BED accident, the crew found out the control column was locked and did not abort. In the DC9, the crew had an apparently unlocked column but still did the right thing anyway. The DC9 would not have flown no matter how far they pulled back the yoke. This crew saved 116 lives by their actions. Humans, as opposed to computers, know when to break the rules. You have to abort above V1 if the plane will not fly. Mike C.

Your reactions on the client comment are pretty much mine too but hey, as they say, you never know until you ask. But another angle is that sometimes the extra time seems out of proportion to the wind, in this case in addition to cutting ground speeds, it necessitated the Scottsdale fuel stop. So I do get that it was a 'lot' longer, and a lot more expensive than originally planned. And a non-pilot client probably doesn't have the same appreciation of that as a pilot would. Now if you were flying a plane with greater range, the difference probably could have been limited to the delay from the slower ground speeds alone. I'm thinking your G100 example earlier. But at a higher rate per hour regardless, even when there's a tailwind and the range isn't needed!

Our “superior” flight-planning and risk-management skills alleviated an extra stop in Buffalo, saving at least an hour, and likely more considering the weather moving in.
I did suggest he consider winds aloft when scheduling venues :D BTW - all three of those guys were class acts.

When those guys get into the G100 I don't think they will care how much more it might cost than the legacy citations. They will wish it came years sooner.

Mark, check your boots forward the fuel caps if you are not standing right there as they fuel you. I am fairly certain the line monkeys at DFW dinged both side of my leading edge with their over handling of the hoses.

ALLIED is our Supplier and applies a $10 flat fee to all uplifts. Additionally, DFW Airport adds a surcharge per gallon payable at the time of checkout on all contract fuel based on the number of gallons fueled - must be paid with cash or credit card.Let me know what the "real" price is and all the fees.
