As far as I know, all Citations have some form of deice on the horizontal, mostly pneumatic boots.

I did take a photo of the plane but cant locate it at the moment.

Please post if you find it, I would be curious to see it.

I seem to remember the same slide at FSI. It’s interesting that a lot of jets have no tail deice/anti-ice; Gulfstreams, Boeings, etc. yet the FAA made Cessna put it on the Citations. Maybe it’s the small radius of the leading edge.

I don't think icing on the CJs has ever been a problem.

Jets have ample power reserve which is the best icing treatment.

But it isn't a problem until one day it is and bites you. Like an ATR 42 one day near Chicago. Still need to be vigilant.

One issue is that it is hard to treat the tail boots on a CJ2, way up in the air.

Still, one could wish for bleed air deice instead...

Mike C.

Most commercial jets don't have deice on the tail. Our CJRs don't have any, Bombardier said they don't need it. We've loaded them up holding down low around CLE with lake effect.

CJ tail boots get a lot of pinholes from static electrity. Make sure they are regularly inspected according to the Docs.

I had an HF antenna break and discovered it upon landing. Luckily at my home base.

I believe that is a brochure marketing image, not an actual airplane in flight.

Not sure if it is true or not but kind of makes sense about them being boots and not hot.

I was told this by some Cessna people about the M2. So it got the boots, then the FAA wanted them to be required (mel), but Cessna stood up and said no. What I was told, anyway.

Had an experience worth mentioning. IMC departure off of 16 at KPWK. Clearance was to climb and maintain 3000. Left turn within 1/2 mile of the depature end. The turn was essentially a 270 degree turn direct OLINN.

What goes through my mind is the Wei Chen and the CJ-4 off of Burke accidents. I brief what is about to happen. Perfect setup for spatial disorientation.

I rotated...climbed to 400 feet and started turn while cleaning up and throttling back. As I leveled off i could feel the leans creeping in. Just amazing in that I knew what could happen and was prepared for it. Yet it still happened. Just thinking had I not thought about it...got caught off guard...been a bit distracted etc.

No pun intended but you have to be spatially aware. The reason we do CrashTalk is to think this stuff through.

Be careful out there.

Nice work!

Was the Autopilot call out a reminder to disconnect or noting disconnection?

Was the glideslope call out for being low (even though already on the ground)?

Did you see the lighting before the minimums call out?

1)AP callout was noting I that I disconnected the AP.
2) once I saw the runway I went visual. Got below GS a tad. Not optimal
But I was good with it.
3) lighting in sight prior to minimums.
