Tom,
If I were going to own one classic, it would be the Gullwing. I bought one when I was in law school that had been dead sticked into a small airport in MS, dismantled it and brought it to GNF with the "intention". My dad almost had a heart attack and sold it to the first fellow that came along with cash money.
Still, it was always one of my "dream" airplanes. Flew in one once for 15 minutes 35 years ago so i don't remember many details. I'd love to go for a ride if you make the move. If you find one to "look at" and want company, call.

Any experience, insight, thoughts would be appreciated.. Oooh. Now you're talking. Either that, or a Cessna 195, will be my last plane.

The Gullwings are great. The SR-s are lighter than the v-77.. They are big and comfortable. Not fast. I know of two for sale right now. One was an OSH winner and one needs a rag.....

we looked at one 20 years ago for sale at a good price--loved the way it flew did not buy because I figured out I would need a army to move it around the hangar NOT a small airplane--but easier to work on than a beech 17

Thanks for defining why the insurance premiums and market options on some of these older birds isn't in line with what you might find on a same hull value later model Bonanza or other piston single-engine
