just read this

"Mooney Aircraft Company has reportedly been sold to a Chinese company and indications are the intention is to resume production, build aircraft components and service the used aircraft market,... "

Well if they give it a door on the left side and a bigger baggage door in the back they may just displace the plastic wonders from their current top of the pack places.

The Chinese seem to like to invest in aviation... Soon I guess they will realize if you want to make a small fortune in aviation, just start with a large one...

We can always hope. With the amount of USD they hold and the debt of this country to them we could stiff them for 50% of it and still not get ahead.

I would like to see them bolt an RR500 to it like it was proposed before bankruptcy.

No official confirmation yet, although lots of rumors. Mooney Aircraft Co. has not denied it on Mooneyspace like they did on the last rumor, which suggests there is probably some truth to it.

The Mooney community has mixed feelings.

Personally, I hope it's these guys:

The link is good for a laugh..

It's all part of a covert plan to repatriate dollars. Get the Chinese involved in aviation, and eventually, they'll spend all their money on it. :D

Best,
Rich

I am not happy with this news. Nothing good will come of the Chinese buying up another American aerospace company. Even one in default. This is not good for our national security, or our dwindling technological advantage.

This is no different than if we had allowed the Soviets to buy aircraft companies during the cold war...

What's the alternative?

Print some more $$ and give it to a US bank to buy an American aircraft maker? :hammer:

I think it's a stretch to imagine this has an impact on our national security - it's just Mooney, not Beechcraft.

It is a shame that China can most likely produce an aircraft and make money while we cannot.

I guess since my reply had political intonations to it, it was deleted.
