See if you can spot the BT'er in this video. The video alone is worth watching and what a cool use of a Bo!

I think the smile on the face of the phenom owner says it all: he has a cool toy and he bought himself a very nice present: world class pictures in flight over the strip.
I can already see the framed picture in his office, den, screen saver, etc.

Wow that's a great video. I'm more interested in the photo ship than the jet and I didn't realize the 36 could fly doors off so effectively. I guess I just never checked that out before. Looks like it's not an issue.

We discussed a similar flight the previous evening (with two Cessna Mustang jets) in this thread.

I also posted an item at my blog.

I was on board the Beechcraft A36 as a safety pilot. The formation pilot on the Phenom 300 was a former USAF Thunderbird, and ahead of the flight, he coordinated extensively with Las Vegas Approach and the McCarran control tower. We had specific restrictions on altitudes and the oval patterns we flew west of the strip. In general, we remained north of the centerlines of runways 25 to avoid conflicts with departing airline traffic, and we operated west of the route that the sight-seeing helicopters use along the strip. We were in constant contact with McCarran tower, and we were inside the Class B the entire time. At one point, during a lull in airline departures, we got permission to fly a track farther south so that we could get McCarran in the background. A photo shoot like this requires experienced pilots, thorough briefings, and coordination with the appropriate ATC facilities. The shoot itself took about 90 minutes of flying laps to catch the light just before sunset and then wait for the lights to come up on the strip.

That it went smoothly and produced excellent results, is evidence of that preparation and, of course, the skill of the photographer, Jessica Ambats. More videos of her at work here.

The A36 flies fine with the rear doors removed. The only restriction in the AFM is maximum speed of 167 KIAS.

It is noisy and breezy, and, of course, you must ensure that everything and everyone is appropriately secured.

I've flown a LOT of hours with the big doors off the A36 for photo shoots. It's a great platform. Note that the photographer had on a chute. It's required that this be done, or the photog be fastened in. If roped/belted in, make sure he/she can not reach the opening of the door.

Nice video!

During NBAA there, one day, there were some photoflights going on. Groups of various jets. Up and down the strip several times. taking pictures or just having fun, probably both!
