Does this sound like a similar annoucement? Piper delaying until 2013. That's another lifetime!

Aero-news.net reported this morning that Piper's President resigned. He was just promoted in June. One of his major responsibilities was to oversee the development of the PiperJet.

VLJs offer a path to an exciting future!

Notice the timing?

1. PiperJet hypes their exciting and new G3000 avionics package prior to NBAA.
2. Piper attends NBAA, digs for orders and measures interest.
3. One week later, Piper announces a big delay in PiperJet.
4. One week later, Piper's newly appointed President resigns.

Would it be safe to say Piper had less than thrilling interest at the NBAA?

The boating looks exactly the same. The Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show just ended and it was awful. The big industry show becomes the last gasp for the weak.

This is what a company looks like just before they go Tango Uniform!

Agree 100%

I wouldn't be the first to buy a Piperjet. Nor would anyone else with a brain.

Embraer killed it at the NBAA. I believe they got orders for their Phenom 100. It's a VLJ, it's fast. It's sitting right there on the floor the at the show. It's certified, it's inexpensive. It's ready to go.

Piper is too late and too expensive. $2.8 million for Piperjet or 2.6 Million for the Phenom 100 that I could have delivered tomorrow?

Piper is trapped with poor value. They have second tier products that aren't discounted nearly enough for their results.

They're not the best.
They're not the cheapest.
They're just don't fit.

I predict there will not be a certified Piper Jet flown by an owner for many years beyond 2013, and maybe never.

Other than owner-pilots there is almost no market for tiny single engine jets. Owner-pilots with only a small bit of intelligence are aware of the nightmares experienced by Eclipse buyers. If they want a JET, and have the funds, Cessna is a much more secure way to be able to fly one's own plane and have downstream maintenance and also re-sale possibilities.

If I were in need of jet transport, and could afford it, I would buy a used Citation/Beech,etc., hire a pilot, and drink old scotch in the back with my friends...and I think that is what a lot of other folks have decided. Here's to old scotch:

I looked at the Phenom 100 in 2006. It had the best figures out there. Also, they know how to build jets.

They have cheap labor and the expierence and the network. The VLJ dream is over. It's been taken by players who are in the market like Cessna and Embrarer. Game over. You die.

Sorry to all the dreamers, here comes the next Aviaton lie.

There was a recent article in Witchita showing their concerns about the significant market share the Phenom line is positioned to take from Cessna and Beech. With that level of competition, can you imagine a single engine jet from Piper at $2,800.00? The game is over as you said.
