The straight 690 is an amazing airplane in its stock config. I can only imagine what it turns into with a stretch and Metroliner engines. Is AWI an option on Turbo Commanders?

As far as I'm concerned, it's THE airplane to own. Just a few dozen more promotions and I'll own one!

I've got about 120 hours in Commanders.... some short wing... some Long... all with the -10 garrets, and I'll tell you they are amazing planes. I personally love the Stretch baby with the "love cave" in the rear like this one.
They really are an amazing bargain for the performance you get and the comfort.
I love the big airplane feel of the main entry at the front of the cabin... nothing worse than closing the door and then having to squeeze past the bosses to get to the cockpit... with these the crew goes left the "boxes" go right... everyone's happy, and you KNOW the door is shut correctly.

I like all the Commanders, even 100LL ones. R.A."Bob" Hoover did a nice job promoting the airplane. My dad had a 680 back in the 1960's. A friend at the airport flys a 690 and said a new AD just came out to replace a pressure bulkhead or some such. $18k for the repair. Often discussed that pressurization doesn't add much to the cost of ownership but that's a pretty good hit for the repair.
