Check back after you have 400 hours up high. I'll bet you have a few experiences that might change your mind. If not, the beers are on me.

There is some crazy voodoo that goes on between 20-30.

Same here, I have 200 hrs in the TBM and I can say im 90% of the time over weather at FL270-280. Its easy to work your way around tunderstorm at these altitudes also.

If I was from the US I could fly RVSM up to FL310, not worth it in Canada.
No comparaison between a piston twin and turbine.

The CJ2+ is a serious machine. The CJ1 is less capable than my 421C for this type of mission.....but it goes twice as fast and is always over weather. That is the downside of a turboprop. They always put you in the worst weather in the 20s.

I like the Conquest II. 35,000' 300KTAS. It will carry 1,400lbs over 2,000NM. 11 seats max, 9 seats in comfort. Beats most small jets long range due to long legs. $1.5M gets a nice one.

My PC12 seats 11.

20's is the worst kind of weather? I just flew in this crap over Atlanta. Tops were about 7000'. I've flown all over the US and caribbean in the PC12. Have yet to be "in the weather".

My point is a jet can go over, a piston can go under, a TP with all its capabilites has to be very careful on route selection.

A good example is a flight from Phoenix to Albuquerque in the summer time. The MEAs put you up high, you have military airspace north and south of the route, and weather ALWAYS builds at St Johns and can be very nasty. I listen to route twice a week. The jets are happy, the pistons are happy, the King Airs struggle.

They can't go low underneath, or VFR through the MOAs, and they can't get over. They can't divert north or south very far due to airspace.

Hey, who says a turbine can't fly low?

HJ has engine certification issues. I wouldn't buy one until they produced 100 flying examples with no issues. No wonder these guys didn't want their picture taken.

My point was that by September you should have had enough "summer weather experience" in the PC-12 to appreciate what we are all trying to tell you. BTW, does that PC-12 have live Wx radar?

The step from a TN Bo to a PC-12 is a big one, so just be careful out there.

Yes, the PC12 has radar.

I have 1600TT. 1500 in TN SR22 and TN Bonanza. I'm finding the PC12 to be an awesome step up and compliment to those planes.

I don't fly at night. I don't fly in weather. I've always been that way.

Yeah, not sure why you guys are giving me a flying lecture.

I respectfully disagree. For what I do, there is no airplane that can touch the Eclipse. I have put well over 100 hours on it now, so I feel qualified to say that. I have owned TN Bonanza, Barons, Cessna 414, and have done many trips in a KA 90. It would be tough to go back to any one of those airplanes now.

And sex appeal? Get real! There is nothing sexy about a fisher price jet. Girls say they are 'cute.' And when people (non-pilots) ask me what airplane I have or flew in on, I tell them "just a little 5 seater' to avoid the whole 'private jet' stereotype.

Okay, I haven't read the whole thread but my response would've been to ask them, "Hey guys, are y'all gonna beat Boeing's record of delays on the 787 with this? Theirs was 4 years late, how many is the HondaJet so far?"

I personally would've been really disappointed to hear that attitude from those guys. I am a graduate of Mississippi State University and I originally went there as an aerospace engineering major (wound up with a music education degree, however). MSU was the place Honda chose to create their prototype for the HondaJet. Honda's been working on this project since the MH02 first flew in 1993. Lots of good pictures available at this link: http://www.ae.msstate.edu/rfrl/pages/hondajet.html

Imagine my disappointment when I got there expecting the MH02 to still be there (2002) only to find that it had been shipped to a museum in Japan in 1998.

The Eclipse is definitely the exception to what I'm saying.

What is your mission?

Mostly by myself. Sometimes 1-3 pax (maximum). 900NM in 3 hours on 1300 lbs of fuel. Night, Low IFR, lots of over water and mountain ops.

I just did a big trip in an Eclipse that would have been a real (long) nailbiter in a piston or even (to a lesser extent) a single turboprop. Have breakfast in Maine, and land just after sunset in Reykjavik.

If I had any money, I would be flying a Phenom 300 or CJ3+. If I needed to carry a load, I would consider something like you have. For a poor guy looking to go fast and not spend millions on fuel, the Eclipse is perfect. Every time I fly in my business partner's C90, I am reminded of this. He cruises at 215KTAS on 500lbs. I can cruise 100+ knots better on just 350 lbs!

How does the interior compare to a Baron? What would you spend to get a decent Eclipse? What is the runway requirement? Useful load?

Sounds like fun!

Still curious about price, interior (especially pilot seat :) ), and CG...

That is pretty great performance for the fuel burn.
