I think a Baron with jet engines is a good description.

That is exactly how I have been describing it to pilots since the first time I flew one.

It flies a lot better than a Baron though! :hide:

I must be missing something. Isn't this the same jet that flew at Oshkosh last year and sat on static display? I think only about 500,000 people saw it. If this is the same plane why would they say "no pictures"?

Yeah. I don't know what they were trying to hide.

That orange thing coming out of the tail cone...... Is that a rocket? It had a sticker on it that said to "stand clear" at all times. Mean while, I'm a foot away from it.

i am pretty sure that is a stablization chute for flight testing so when/if they get outside the flight envelope and can't recover, they pull it, it points the nose down, they cut it away and then start flying again.

Glad you stood your ground.

Same here, 3 hangers over from me the then new (and hush hush) Firebird Scale Composite airplane was being worked on. Normally they kept it on the military side at KFHU. Seeing how cool it looked I had to go over and see it. And it is a very cool looking bird,, very nice.

They made a fuss because it is some secret airplane for the military. In my view it was not. If they bring it over to the civilian side on a public airport then it is public. They then got the fuelers from the city involved an all, I don't back off very easy when I know I am right! just more indignant.
I took a video and to top it off stuck it on you tube. Later on some brick brain from the city told me I was right it is a public airport and I can take photos and whatever, they actually went and spoke to city attorney. :-)

They don't teach people about the constitution nowadays, public v/s private. Some people are stupid, and its always in direct proportion to how much self righteous while wrong they are. Then a few months later they published their own photos.

So here is the un approved scale composite wonder bird clip; http://tinyurl.com/hfs3tdq

I found this older threadand got a quite a kick out of it! I thought it deserved to come to the top of the listing so that others that might have missed it a few years ago, like me, could enjoy it as well.

Thanks!

That picture of Jason in the first post (and the story he tells) is one of my favorite bits of content here.

Imagine, telling a guy who's already pre-qualified (by the aircraft he's flying) to buy your new product to take a powder... still funny!
