THIS thing was giving rides: Attachment: DSC_0177-001.JPG Looks like the one that flew out of Bad Wörishofen and then over my house on its way to Neuschwanstein. Was supposed to trade a helo ride for some stick time but the logistics never worked out. How about the acrosport II ? I always thought it looked like a fun cheap entry bipe possibility.

The one I flew had a steerable tailwheel. The cockpit is on the small side, especially leg room, tho that can be adjusted a little during construction. Try it on, or better yet get a flight before buying. All that said, it is a nice flying airplane that will do Sunday acrobatics and leave a big smile on your face.

Spent yesterday on 'differences' training in the Stearman. Sod and asphalt landings, airwork, and a couple of spins thrown in for good measure. A great way to spend a Saturday!

I had a 2000 Super Decathlon previously. The Lakes is easier to fly. But slower than you can possibly imagine. We bought it in Napa, CA and flew it back to Providence, RI three summers ago. Loooong flight but lots of fun. Let me know what questions you have. Zeke

How has it been maintenance wise, anything unusual ?
How tall are you ?
Anytime I get those ideas about owning a taildragger or biplane, I have to remind myself that I A. dont have a hangar B. have no practical use for it whatsoever I think I reasonably have to put that off for a couple of years.

I am 6"1". The rear seat in the WACO has a pneumatic height adjustment. So it will keep most far out of the wind. Yes a hangar is needed. And no there is no justifiable reason to have one unless you are a ride operator. I love it, just can't justify it

It's not a Stearman but it compares nicely with a Super Decathlon. And I have given dual in it from the front seat. The front is. to as comfy as the rear. Maintenance has been a non-issue. It has Lyc 360, a Hartzell prop, and Cleveland wheels and brakes. Maintenance has been exactly what you would expect with any light single with these items. In 230 house in 30 months we have replaced a tach cable, a battery, now tore and tubes, and silly little stuff. We did have to redo so e poor radio wiring but that was a function of a cruddy radio shop somewhere in the past. And we elected to upgrade to electric tachs rather than wait for a custom made tach cable to be fabricated. We also added a couple of other items that were elective maintenance: a JPI 450 fuel totalizer and an EI oil temp and pressure gauge. But these weren't due to failures. We just look for excuses to make a nice plane spiffier. It has been a ball. And the rear seat is good down to about 25 Fahrenheit. Hope that helps. Zeke

Keep updating, and once you are ready to buy your stearman, give me a call
