Congratulations, Doug! She’s a beauty.
The friend who taught me to fly his Champ also owned an OTW. He would have gladly taught me to fly it too, but I’m just too big. My shins heat the front seat and I can only get my toes on the bar going up to the rudder pedals, not the pedals themselves. And forget brakes.
He had me get in it once to work the throttles while he propped it (chocked). My entire face was above the windscreen, and my shoulders were so snug against the side of the cockpit opening that I could hardly get my arms out to find a way to wriggle out.

I'm 6'1" and it's snug to get in and out of, but once I am in it, it is comfortable.

Same. I think Wacos are beautiful. How are they to fly?

They are wonderful - my airplane is very well rigged and flies as well as it looks.

Alex, Congratulations on your beautiful airplane! I know you've been looking for a while and getting one from the factory is the ultimate way to do it. I love the simple white and burgundy paint scheme. It looks just like Michael McCafferty's "Spirit of Adventure" he flew around Europe. If you haven't read about his tours they are great reads. His first, the American Tour, is especially on point as he describes his visit to the Waco Classic factory a couple of decades ago. Michael's writing is what got me into Waco flying... http://www.michaelmccafferty.com/adventures/

I took a lot of your advice into account when going through the process, and this airplane really checked all the boxes. Plus dealing with the factory has been a real pleasure. What a great group of people. Let's coordinate schedules and perhaps I could fly up to your neck of the woods and meet for lunch (I'm in FW so not so far in "Waco" terms).

Holler at me if you all do this and I’ll join for dessert. I’m in a Stearman, so I won’t make it in time for lunch.

Ran down to Robbie Vajdos’s Under the Wire Fly-In down on the south coast of Texas on Friday. I love these little fly-ins in out of the way places. A buddy took this nice snap of my Stearman just at sunrise.
