I posted here a while back for recommendations on re-facing my airspeed indicators. Rudy’s up in Arkansas did a great job. They now read MPH like God and Mr Stearman intended. Stearman pilots in the crowd will note that the redline is proof both of them have a sense of humor.

A fellow BT'r contacted me a few weeks ago about buying my old Stearman. He bought it. Hopefully he'll post some photos of it soon. I miss that airplane but the old Birddog has been a lot of fun too.

Not quite. What started as rat-killing a bunch of small oil leaks turned into a roller-bearing STC install and the reworking of a couple of cylinders. Bad news is I’m out some $$. Good news is I will now know what I’m flying behind.

Coming back the other way. Also got my Hellcat stick grip installed. The trigger works the radio and the other (ordinance release?) button on top runs the PTT intercom.

All fixed and back in the crib.

Roller bearing STC installed, replaced the cam and a couple of cylinders. All new seals and gaskets. Runs great, nice and dry. But, Lord, was it ever cold transiting the metroplex yesterday. Low 40’s on the ground, and temps started with a 3 at 3500’ for the run across. Even with gloves, the hands start to get numb at that temp and it is hard to make words come out right.

These are summertime airplanes.

I can empathize with the cold....

My Stearman is in Louise, TX at Robbie Vajdos’ shop. I had to leave the Metroplex in mid October and return to the hinterlands of Illinois and didn’t have the time to deal with WX and a slow Stearman, so the airlines were my ride. Then it got cold. Too cold to spend a couple days getting the Stearman to DuPage Airport near Chicago.

A friend flew the plane to Robbie’s and he’s doing the tweaks it needs over the winter. It’ll be all ready to go by the spring thaw.

Glad to see you’re back in the air, even if it’s pretty cool air!

Since the Bo annual is going great, it was time help the buddies revive the Starduster. New oil, fuel hoses, overhauled old school Lyc fuel injection. Too bad I can only start and taxi it,,,, one day!

That’s a great photo. I’m impressed by the string of planes you fly, share some stories please.

CK gets a real Hellcat and negative learning transfer sets in.

CK presses trigger to call Tower: “RATATATATATATAT!!!”
CK presses bomb button to ask WTF: “FWEEEEEEEEEEE-BOOM!!!”

Sorry, it’s late and my sense of humor is twisted. Cool airplane CK.

Mark,

I have stories. They get better as the evening goes on and Crown Royal goes down.

On cold rainy nights, of which we have had many lately, I have been working on compiling a list of airplanes that I have flown since 1956 when my blessed adventure started at age 8 getting a ride in a Luscombe 8A at Mexia, Texas. My first log book started on March 26, 1961 with J.D. Curry (instructor cert #49111) giving me my first logged dual in a J-3 Cub. I just turned 70 so it is time I write some stuff down in case I choke on a peanut without anyone around to do the "hiney-lick" manuever on me.

Remember, you mentioned a string/list and pretty much asked for it so here it is. I may have omitted a couple on account of senior moments and all (not all in chronological order):
