It really impressed me. The owner, a friend of mine, is very hesitant of letting others in the airplane because of the type's safety record and his potential liability. He is a former Navy test pilot, flew the F-16, A-4, and instructed in the T-38.
The IV-P is fast and efficient. ~285 KTAS on 19 GPH.
It is incredible how much faster the 115-120 knots final approach speed feels compared to the 95-100 I have been using in the jet that I have been flying for the last few months.
Overall, lots of fun and an excellent aircraft for the right pilot ...

Tim My hangar neighbor just got his Evolution. It is definitely a lot different than the IV-P on the other side of me. The Evolution has a lot bigger wing and a different shape. More room in the cabin. It has a Garmin 900 and he is having TKS installed. I willl take some picture next time he pulls it out.

Tim Sure- but $250k can buy you a nice piston IV-P or $350k for a turbine IV-P. An Evolution is 1.3M. That is a pretty big price difference .....

It's my dream to still build, fly, and own one.
Dreaming is likely as far as I'll get. Money and time required are not on my side. +1

I dont know so much, 90-95 over the fence and touch down at 75knots. And the one next to me has been flying off Caboolture airfield for 8+ years. Google the field....some G58 drivers are scared. It just needs respect.

"For those that prefer a piston engine, Lancair offers the latest in piston aircraft engines, the Lycoming TEO-540 “iE2” electronically controlled 350 hp engine." From http://www.lancair.com/index.php?option ... dit&id=141Although personally I'd definitely opt for the turbine!
