Now there's something I've never seen before!

Fire trucks chasing them as they start the "departure roll". Interesting.

Makes total sense to me. Thinking he probably needed work on the plane. Landed in a lake with a boat ramp... towed it to the shop on a flat bed... then, instead of relaunching on the lake................ or it could have been lifted onto a flat bed.

Now if he could just land on the trailer while its moving, he'd be really cool.

Not all that uncommon. Land on the grass, takeoff on a dolly.

Type "Dolly Takeoff" into youtube search.

Two fire trucks?

Now how cool is that!! I want a Beaver more than any other plane, but the cost is beyond what this soul's wife would bear!! I better start off with a J-3 in a partnership with 2 other guys so I dont have to be on the paperwork even. Maybe in my next life!! :D

Yes, in case the truck and the airplane both blow up.

The guy who sent it to me flies Beavers in Alaska, so that's my guess.

Reminds me of something I'd see on Mythbusters.

Best,

Certainly looked like it had Darwin Award of the year potential!

Why go through all that trouble! They should have just used a conveyor belt! (ducking and running.) Well dog gone if I didn't say conveyor belt when I meant treadmill!

Best,

Dave

Iam not sure I like the way they did it. Truck seemed to accelerate slowly then when flying speed was reached he hit the throttle and caught up to the truck before lifting off. I would rather see a solid block on the trailer, behind the step of the floats, the truck accelerates slowly to about 30 mph then he hammers the throttle. The Beaver then moves the throttle forward and around flying speed lifts off, unable to accelerate as fast as the truck and falls back, rather than catch up to the truck.

Of course it is easy to armchair quarterback this.

Yes it is done often and I would agree that the plane probably previously landed on the wet grass, maybe morning dew, for maintenance.
