Man....you've got that nailed!

HA!

Like I said. On the flip side, there's nothing cooler than pulling into the Atlantis Marina on a 130 foot "whatever he has" yacht with a few buddies and tearing up the resort for a weekend. Or parking in the Exumas next to some deserted island. Truly amazing stuff and truly out of my price range.

I agree. I would definately buy the TBM at this point in time. It's just interesting to follow.

My wife loves the TBM (Pilatus too) and would be fine if I bought a second home in the mountains (Sedona or Sante Fe) and a turbine, instead of our current boating life. It's the first time that I'm not sure what I really want to do.

It's a good problem to have.

As far as boats..... I've never had a "boating life" so I am speaking from ignorance but... I feel I would rather have a home in the Bahamas (for example) that I fly to than have a boat in the Bahamas that I stay on when I am there.

I have stayed on friends big yacht in Bahamas and it truly is an amazing lifestyle. But none of them had airplanes either. The only thing I didn't like about their boating lifestyles was the constant "upkeep" and "worry" regarding the boat. The boat always had to be moved due to a hurricane. It always needed a captain. It always need to be washed or worked on etc. It just seemed like something always had to be done.

Jason,

Yea, we need to get you a boat so you can realize how cheap that Bonanza is! <g>

It IS a different way of life and a lot of fun at times. I've taken a like to it with a smaller boat, which we use to run up and down the west coast of Fl, but rarely more than 50 miles or so. Tons of fun place to anchor out and watch the sun go down. I'll be boating to AOPA in a few weeks... just something different.

I'm kicking around getting a smaller boat for exactly what your talking about. But not something I could spend the night on.

Jason,

Lots of good choices, and lots of good boating forums... Even here in the Babble talk I'd bet you could get a lot of good thoughts on what boat to get.

A LOT depends on your goals and where you'll keep it. I like the little cabin cruisers, like my 270 Sundancer. Cheap to run (as boats go), reasonable maintenance, big enough to sleep on (short trips), has AC, head, etc. But small enough to push off a sandbar.

But, like an idiot.... I'm looking to get on "just a bit bigger". They call it "2 ft itis". Prices are WAY down.

But if it were really just me and my wife and the occasional other couple, I'd do the TBM. I potentially will be hauling lots of folks lots of places.

Just yanking your chain ;)

Its that mission thing. For me its either myself or myself and my skinny family. And for that, the TBM would be perfect payload wise.

Read a trip report the other day of a TBM owner from Minneapolis who had a business meeting in Colombia. 1 fuel stop in Ft Lauderdale, next stop Cartagena :bugeye:

My boat could literally be at Atlantis in just 7 hours from now. It's 1000 gals of fuel (each way) and $500.00/night for the slip.

Turbine salemen love boat owners. TBM calls once a month.

It's tempting.

$500.00 a night will get you a really nice room at Atlantis plus a bunch of freebies.

Those TBM's have really great range. The guy in the hangar next to mine just bought a new CJ1 to commute back and forth to Chicago. He can't make it back from Chicago without a stop.

While he cruises 80kts or so faster, chocks to chocks, the TBM may actually beat him on this 1200nm stage.

TBM cruise is in the mid 20's.

A TBM would win.

Let me know if you and your wife are ever coming to Sedona for a visit. It is a great place for a second home. There are lots of good deals in this economy.

Sorry for the thread drift...

Russ, I loved Sedona. Just curious what would be the price range for a house there. Not too big and fancy, maybe a 2 or 3 bedroom home.

Regards,

Angel careful you might be coming down with "Red Rock fever".

I think you would have to figure the starting point would be at $300,000. If you get more interested send me an email and I can have my wife send you a link to some listings to look at. She is an Associate Broker with Sotheby's

Oh what slippery slope.....

Better hook him up with a good boat broker as well.
