I think they can change the damage history to "yes".

Kind of reminds me of an elderly woman here who mistook the gas pedal for the brake pedal and plowed into the Wendy's...

Reminds me of pics I saw of an RJ in BTR that plowed through the mx hangar. I heard that a new A&P started it up like one that didn't have FADEC, BUT it did. With the power levers forward (near T/O) away it went and hit 2 or so other RJ's. The last number I read was $100M. I saw it sitting there last year looking like a parts plane.

Yeah, someone hit the wrong pedal.

That seems like so much damage that they'd just total it.

Looks like that GIV ran into that equipment....not the other way around. Question is, how? Maybe it was being moved and got loose of the tug somehow.

There have been numerous events, similiar to this one where planes come into contact with airport equipment. Obviously, I do not know the facts about this occurance. I know of a G-IV in Nice, France that rolled over 200 feet when another visiting airplane took their wheel chocks. A B-747 taxied by and the idle jet blast started the airplane rolling, and after the horizontal tail struck a light pole, the airplane came to a rest. Most large planes will lose their brake pressure in a matter of minutes after shutdown, which is why the chocks are so important.

It is hard to believe that a pilot would taxi into the many pieces of equipment, that the Tahiti airplane struck.

My speculation is exempt of facts, so my guess and $2.20 will buy a cafe grande at Starbucks.

Most large aircraft release any brake system that is activated to avoid warping the rotors while parked after chocks are set. At least thats how we do it.

Or how about this:

Image

(static runup performed by technicians during acceptance testing with too little fuel in the tanks and without the required number of chocks and tiedowns in place)

Aw-heck, that G-IV is small change considering that our crack MX team managed to launch a MD 80 about half way through the terminal one night. I'll try and find a picture of it. Then there was the MX team that took a 727 for a short test hop without any pilots on board..... :bugeye:
