Tom,

You could haul a lot of camera and gun gear in that bird.

No airplane has more personality than a Goonie Bird... Every minute you get to fly one is like spending quality time with your best friend!!!! I highly recommend the Goonie Bird, and if anyone wants to buy it, I will fly it home and train you...

You will be ready for a type rating when we get back to the lower 48.... Anybody ready for an Adventure????

Now that would be way cool. Don't think SWMBO would be too keen on it though.

Anyone know what the operating cost of a DC-3 might be? Just in case I get a wild hair and take Doug up on his offer.

Sure, I heard they fly like a big C185. I always wanted a DC3.
That must cost a fortune to keep airworthy.
Too bad it wont fit in my hangar.

I actually got to "fly" one when I was about 10 years old from the right seat. I put fly in quotes, because I had nothing else to compare to then, and was obviously being humored by the PIC, but I remember it being relatively easy to handle. That flight from LA to Cabo, plus some flying time when I was about 13 in an uncle's C310 from Dallas to Boulder were definitely the two events that shaped my desire to learn to fly for real. So... I'm very fond of the goonie (just not fond enough to own one however :) )

I wonder if I the airport has any rules about living in your airplane. I could sell my house buy the DC 3 and just live at the airport. Save a lot of commuting time.

Adventure: What happens with poor planning.

Ask Stan Musick, or Tom Gresham. They stole a "DC-3" and ground-looped it during take-off.

(Anyone want the whole story?)
