Any word if TCM is working on a TSIO-550 as an aftermarket upgrade for Bonanzas? http://www.cirrusaircraft.com/turbo/specifications.aspxSo, this is the TCM TSIO-550K. I can't imagine why anyone would want it, if it were available as a retrofit for a Bonanza. The TA Turbo setup has better economy, is faster, and is a proven design. There's a reason people take the B36TC and have the TCM turbocharged engine out only to put in a TA Turbo engine.

The video clip on aero-news.net says Cirrus is going to offer both TAT and Continental's turbo at the same price point. The Continental TN is rated at 315 HP and they reduce the RPMs to 2500 to lower noise. They claim the new motor is significantly smoother and they have integrated the Garmin Perspective to establish easy LOP settings. They demonstrated 186 knots at 10,500' with a FF of 17.5 GPH. http://www.aero-tv.net/index.cfm?videoi ... 7082ee1fde

I kinda wondered because the speed demonstrated didn't blow me away. Cut the preformance to 65% to save heat isn't any amazing feat, and the video showed they still had pretty high temps.
The Cirrus crowd is attracted to simplicity, which is where this package shows well. It's easier to market, but I think we (here at BT) tend to be a lot more of a techcically driven crowd and is willing look deeper at specifics.
I just hope TCM doesn't play the warranty game with the TAT application.

Cirrus changed the nosewheel linkage on the SR22T to give extra cooling under the cowling. It's not very attractive, but obviously necessary.
