Since this is obviously such a capable airplane it makes sense that we only need 187 of them. Hence the reason the current Congress canceled the program.

Its too expensive a plane to build and maintain. But then I'm sure we'd all argue its "too good to fail"

Incredible aircraft. My only question is why does it have to be so agile? With the current weapons systems a pilot can merely look at a target and send a nice little missile up the rear end of a boggie. Also, its not like any other country has anything comparable, or am I wrong? It seems to me like the U.S. has 2 fighter jets for every sand covered Ak47 in the middle east. I honestly don't see the need for any of this. Sell a couple of those jets and get us out of the economic crisis, or fund education. But thats just me.

Great stuff Neal. That's a Pitts with 70,000 lbs of thrust. Unbelievable the amount of maneuverability I had no idea that thing was that capable.
