If I had the KA90 deal you've got going I'd do it. That's a lot of low risk turbine flying.

XM HAS A LAG OF UP TO 10 MIN,EVEN WHEN IT REFRESHES IT'S AT LEAST 4 MIN OLD (FIRST THING THEY TEACH IN FLIGHT SAFETY IS RADAR!!) IF YOUR GOING 260 INDICATED YOU CAN'T DEPEND ON WX ,I USE THE XM FOR LOOKING AHEAD BUT THE LIVE RADAR WHEN I GET CLOSE TO THE STORMS, XM WILL KILL YOU IF YOU THINK YOU CAN FLY AROUND THE "RED" STUFF WITH IT, (THE A36 IN TEXAS IS PROOF OF THAT)

Jason, Larry Olson has some great posts on the differences between XM and on-board radar including pics from both while picking through a system. You might search out those posts to help with your decision.

Flight Safety has a demo of XM showing green and yellow rain that develops into an imbeded thunderstorm in less than 6 mins!!, (OH and it killed a piper arrow pilot in Ohio in 2007) now your doppin along in the soup at 170 knt's and that xm looks like yellow, no big deal right, suddenly your wings come off, I use the xm with a "LOT" of caution since "Big Boy's School" and those full motion sims can "really" scare the be-jesus out of you when they fly you into the sim weather, just food for thought,,,,,

I flew myself into one of those storms on purpose last year. Good times.

Changed my life. I don't fool with it anymore.

That's wierd, I dreamed the same thing last night! I can't get it out of my mind. The TBM salesman keeps reminding me (at least once a month) of guys selling their boats and buying TBMs. My wife even says she's ok with that idea. She loves the Pilatus and TBM. I really want one, but I need one like a "hole in the head". The Bonanza is perfect for me.

So.....I asked my boat Captain what he thought this morning. He said, "NO!"

I think Thundestorms will kill you period. Just as the KA100 that was lost in TX earlier this year.

:D Reminds me of something I heard awhile back. I will paraphrase:

A couple of guys were comparing Marine Hobbies and Safety with Aviation Hobbies and Safety.

Marine guy complains about how expensive it is, Aviation guy agrees and is able to match. After going back and forth on several issues it comes down to safety.

Marine guy warns about the dangers of flight and how deadly it is especially compared to the serene marine life. Aviation guy responds to the contrary that Aviation has a "perfect" safety record. Marine guys is perplexed.

Aviation guy responds, "Yeah, Aviation has a perfect safety record ... We have never left on up there." :D

For sale by a local gentleman. I know it's quite impressive as I've seen it many times in it's hangar. My boss has been kicking around the idea of buying it. He said it was $1,000,000. Pretty great price me thinks. If you'd like I can get more information for you. i do expect a finders fee....that would be one ride!!!
For what it's worth, I like your hair. You resemble Eric Roberts, the actor!
Cheers, mark

Hi Mark,

Eric Roberts huh? That's quite a compliment. Thanks. Wish I knew Julia.

As for the airplane. If I buy a TBM I'm getting the 850. If I'm going turbine, I'm not skimping on anything. For that reason alone, I may never get one.

Thanks for the heads up.

Jason
