I just rec'd the most recent copy of Flying Adventures featuring an interview with Jack Pelton, CEO of Cessna aircraft. He says, "Expect additional models to be developed off the 400 platform". In the next sentence Pelton added, "I think a turbine single would be a nice fit. We just need to find a solution that has a business plan that makes sense."

It looks like Cessna has a new single turbine that may be in the works.

Well someone needs to build one for under a million.

Well, don't expect the Cessna 400 turbine to come in under a million. I would expect closer to 2 million.

They've gotta step up. There's a local company building (albeit experimental) turbine aircraft. They're popping Garrett -6's on many different varieties, and having great success.

Cessna knows they need something new to compete against the Diamond Superstar wich will also pressurized.

Then there's no point. Piperjet and Cirrus Jet will be under 2 million or right at it.

I agree you might have a chance with the Cirrus. IMO I think Cessna will more likely go after the TBM850 type customer base which are at the 3 million+ level. Same with Beech if they were to develop a single engine turboprop it would be between the 1.4 million Baron and the 4 million C90B.

I agree.

I was just looking at the DJet. On controller around $1.3Million. It's a nice plane.

If Cessna a Beech both build single turbo props priced from TBM850 to Pilatus range then I think there'll be too many. But I'm ok with that.

The djet mock-up is very impressive. Interior comfort is terrific.

I can't figure out what Cessna would gain by getting into a large-cabined single turbine at 3+MM. The Mustang is 3.2MM.

I still think a baby-turbined ... not a columbia anymore, what is it now? Cadwalader? Carpaggio? Codfish? -- would be an easy mod since they've got them flying now on the experimental side. Probably can offer it for just under 1MM, and people would go "ooh, nifty"

Don't people assign more "cool points" to turbojets over turboprops? I can't see them doing a 2MM turboprop in the face of the piper/cirrus ventures, nor a large-cabin turboprop in the face of the TBM/Pilatus folks... it just doesn't seem their style.

I agree.

Have you seen the prices of some really nice F90 King Airs? 4K-5K TT and could probably be had for under $1 Million.

I really think the Single Engine Turbo Prop sales are taking a bite out of Beech.

The King Air is such a tough looking plane.

Times have changed. The "cost benefit" of twins like King Air is just not there anymore.

Unless, we can find some other fuel to run our airplanes on.

If they put a RR500 in the Columbia 400, and they make it non-pressurised then price would maybe increased with 100.000$, if they would make it pressurised i see no reason why they should go above 1M$

I love that you love the RR500. I love it too. I hope it come to fruition in my lifetime.
