You are so correct, Jim.
I still want an airplane I can fly passengers in and go places, but it seems all I spend my money on are rag and tube antiques. Maybe the universe is trying to tell me something.
That's a great looking Husky, Jim. I love that shade of blue.

My first airplane was a '99 A-1A. I flew it coast-to-coast, almost border-to-border, carried 38 Angel Flight patients and logged nearly 1,000 hours. A Hoot and a Half! Enjoy!!

Caution: Tailwheel flying can be devastating to your bank account!
But it can be highly beneficial to your flying.
There are two things one can do that will have a tremendous impact on your basic flying skills. Tailwheel and Formation flying.
Developing the precision flying skills, concentration, and discipline, required by these activities will have a profound on all aspects of a pilots flying. VFR or IFR.

I took the Cub out last evening and made the 15 mile flight from Fort Worth Meacham to the grass runway at Fort Worth Spinks. It was hot and hazy but the air was smooth. 10 grass landings later (3 point, wheel, steep approach, land on one main-then switch to the other etc.) my mood had shifted from sour to pure joy. The open door made the temperature pleasant.
I had a great flight and I never left the city limits. You can have fun with the Husky without ever leaving the pattern.

Cessna 185 will do that for you, not overly spacious but gets the job done. Username Protected wrote: I still want an airplane I can fly passengers in and go places, but it seems all I spend my money on are rag and tube antiques. Maybe the universe is trying to tell me something.

Got my tailwheel endorsement in a Husky. Tundra tires. Grass strip. Nothing better. Often thought about trading in the Mooney for a Husky.

Husky’s are surprisingly versatile aircraft. Enough cruise speed and range to practically go places with two people and adventure gear. Rugged enough and short field performance for off airport operations. Enough wheel/ski/float options for any manner of aviation fun. Kind of a flying Jeep. I thought I’d use mine for Sunday back country and farm strip play. I ended up making a number of 4000 mile trips to very remote spots that I’d never been able to get to without my Husky. Opens up a whole new world.
Enjoy!
