Hi guys,

I am finalizing a deal on an Mu2 that's located in Reno, NV. It has been service center maintained and is current on all ad's and inspections. I am looking to close the deal sooner than later and the big name Mu2 specialists that I am aware of are all super busy and booked up until June at this point. I'm pretty confident that it's in overall good shape based on how and who has been maintaining it and the fact that Reno is a relatively dry climate, but would like someone that's familiar with Mu2's to put eyes on it. Does anyone know of someone that's an Mu2 expert on the West coast or willing to travel to look the airplane over and give me their opinion. I'm willing to pay for travel expenses, etc.

You might call Mike Lavar and see if he's got a traveling person.
Bore scope would be high on the list if they can do that in situ.

I think Neal Aviation at KSEE might still have an Mu2 person.

I have owned three MU2s over the years, an N model, a Marquise and my current Solitaire. There is a difference between authorized service centers, I would rank IJSC and Jet Air very highly. I don’t have as much experience with most of the others.

I would have a logbook examination done at IJSC in Tulsa. I would also want to see the actual inspection checklists. These checklists should note everything including issues that didn’t rise to the level of being unairworthy.

Keep in mind that there are a lot of fairly expensive potential issues that are not actually airworthiness issues. I have spent over $30,000 addressing small leaks and these were only the ones I couldn’t address myself. Nice to know these things from the start

Thank you all for the replies. It has been maintained at Intercontinental Jet for the past few years and Carolina Turbine Support for several years before that. Has fresh hot sections from Intercontinental Jet and some of the wheels got replaced, so I get the sense that its been loved. It needs windshields sooner than later and IJSC said I could expect them in September and gave me a price that I can live with. Other than the windshields, it seems like a solid bird, but I would appreciate a professional pair of eyes and would like to pull some inspection panels and have a peak at her bones to the degree reasonably possible. I will make some phone calls tomorrow the the recommended people to see what I can work out. Again, thank you for the replies!

If icjc has been seeing it and did last inspections, I would feel good having someone borescope engines and do a flight to test all the systems and see what doesn’t work.

I have found icjc to be extremely honest about condition of planes they work on.

Alan,

Having had to replace both Windshields when we owned our Mu2, if you don’t like the interior now’s the time to replace it or update to your preference .. it’s all coming out.
