Watched this Hagerty Drivers Foundation video on the Chrysler Turbine Car. One of the initial designers was none other than Sam Williams, who would go onto create Williams International and the long line of successful business jet engines.
Worth the 1 hour invested:

I saw one at the New York World's Fair, quietly idling.

Great job on reverse engineering that engine and rebuilding it! Not an easy task. Very fortunate that Jay Leno had the desire to provide the motivation and means to do that.

It's seems the car from an engineering perspective was pretty successful. They solved the overheating at starting the engine which was obviously a big problem. You can still screw this up on older turbines. The issue was cost. The engines were just too expensive to produce. Nothings has really changed all these years. There is still no such thing as a cheap turbine. Unfortunately for us piston drivers.
