Doug: Thank you for sharing that most humbling and sobering video with us.
I was amazed to see, near the end of the film, a picture of Stu Harrell, also a Viet Nam vet.
Stu is a Silver Star decorated combat soldier, who was a Lieutenant platoon leader of an outfit known as "Harrell's Riflemen" during his service in Viet Nam. An able and courageous leader, he was able to extricate his unit from a lethal engagement with the NVA. He singlehandedly eliminated an enemy machine gun emplacement, and continued fighting intense insurgent fire until his own machine gun was shot away from his hands. At great personal risk, he attended the wounded and dying, and went out on a clearing to mark a zone for OH-6's to land on and extract his men.
I had the privilege of attending the same military school as Stu Harrell. I well remember his demeanor even as a young cadet: Serious, but not aloof, and as an officer of the corps, a person that inspired discipline, confidence, and synergism among his fellow officers and charges.
His son is now a captain in the United Stats Army, and continues the tradition.

The BP flew ex-Army OH-6s when I was in ELP and I got to ride with them on a 2 hr patrol along the border. Got to fly it some too. Tried hovering and failed miserably though.
