I bought and got checked out in this low time machine a few weeks ago and made an epic cross country up to Maine. The Hudson River corridor was definitely a bucket list item. It’s thoroughly Italian, fast, good looking, nice flying and extremely capable. So far nothing has fallen off! It cruises at about 140kts and goes about 300nm with a fully coupled autopilot and twin Rolls Royce 450hp motors. It is full single pilot IFR. It has lots of parts and pieces that would make one’s eyes water by airplane standards so hopefully I don’t end up living in it. It theoretically has lots of time life before anything pricey comes due.

109As are great machines. My first heli ride was in one in 1978, Agusta had a team in Houston doing the Sperry autopilot cert and I got to ride along on some of their cert flights.

That is a gorgeous helicopter!!! The Hudson River corridor is definitely an amazing bucket list item, especially circling the Statue of Liberty.

Man you are living the dream. Check out Monhegan island on the way back. Very cool frozen in time place with some good walking trails and a charted heliport that I’d imagine you could use if you called ahead, ME78.

Holler if you want any other tips on fun routes in and around NYC airspace.

Mark I have not. It’s extremely stable and easy to fly with full time SAS and force trim. It’s much easier to fly than the R44/66 so I don’t see why I won’t . You are invited anytime to come fly it. I’ll pay for gas and lunch.
