Used to fly several winter seasons with Daniel and Montaine in Poghkeepsie back in the mid 80s. Such a wonderful couple, we miss them dearly. RIP. The CAP-10 is a great airplane. Unforgettable memories. Montaine used to tell me the story of one her early flights in the US with a very young female trainee pilot who was still working on her private certificate. At the time the CAP-10 was not yet fully certified by the FAA. During that flight, while inverted, the controls jammed. In a split second Montaine informed/instructed the trainee that they were going to bail out. She slid the canopy open, both pushed the 5 point harnesses release and parachuted to safety. When investigators eventually found the aircraft wreckage into the woods, there was a "long" wrench that had been forgotten by maintenance inside the fuselage, jamming the bellcrank. They had unknowingly flown with that wrench for almost 50 hours, time of the next inspection when the wrench would have presumably been found. https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/128266Both Montaine and Daniel always made a thorough briefing before each flight, not only on the aerobatic sequence, but also on how to exit the aircraft and deploy the parachute. https://frobbi.org/mudrywebsite/more.htmlhttps://www.planeandpilotmag.com/scroll/10-avions-mudry-cap-10b/https://iac52.org/history.html

Call Hank Bruckner in Honolulu. He had his CAP-10C (it was a B that got the C wing put on) up for sale 1 year ago, and in the ad, the phone number was 808 282-7164.
I was ferrying an airplane through HNL a number of years ago, heard about a CAP-10 on the field, called and arranged an hour or so of dual aerobatic instruction with Hank.
Great guy... and the plane was a joy to fly. Pretty mild manners on landing too. I loved it.
Anyways, Hank knows a lot about the CAP-10.

Learned Acro many years ago from Gene Soucy, in one of his CAP-10's. Delightful airplane with no vices, and a great teaching platform. Were it not for my addiction to biplanes, I would own one.

While the RV is, arguably, a fair acro mount, the CAP has a throttle on the left cabin wall for the PIC. All real pilots have the left hand on the throttle, and the right on the stick. The CAP is also a bit more "draggy" that the RV's, so you won't find yourself busting out the the box at Vne. Were it not for my addiction to biplanes, I would own one.
