Fortunately it looks like crypto is dying a well deserved death. I think the big currencies are going to "proof of stake" rather than "proof of work", clarifying thing for anyone who didn't think it was a pyramid scheme

Crypto mining produces more CO2 than private aviation.

Private aviation is getting more efficient. Crypto mining CAN'T, it is designed to get less efficient any time someone comes up with an efficiency improvement. Mining crypto is proof you polluted.

Crypto is an ecological disaster far worse than private aviation. Private aviation delivers something of value, crypto really doesn't.

People in the future will laugh at the crypto investors today, spending $billions on some numbers made by an algorithm. How stupid is that?

The growth rate of coal in China is slowing down https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coal_in_China

This climate change BS is pointless and has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with "saving the planet".

Pay is good as well. Despite the taxes and real estate prices, I can have a better standard of living here than other places I know of. (and the cost of owning a baron is a drop in the bucket - ok a big drop, but still...)

A warmer planet is a net positive for the world. Yes, sea levels rise and people will be displaced, but it will take place over decades and vast areas of Russia and Canada become farmable.

And what about being too cold? The last global cold spell, the mini ice age of the 14th century, was far more dangerous than a 2 degree Celsius rise over the next century.

No, a little more CO2 is not a bad thing at all.

When I was a kid, I was convinced (by the environmentalist of the time) that we were all going to freeze to death with global cooling from man made gases. Then we were all going to die from the holes in the ozone layer. Then we are all going to burn to death, from some academic predictions back then, some years ago. But with all this global warming, Utah and much of the west has had the largest snowfall in recorded history, and we will probably have widespread flooding this year. Funny how nature humbles the environmental scientists. Which is almost an oxymoron, because I have never seen an enviro publication that doesn’t smack of an agenda from the time it was funded. Real science doesn’t have an agenda. It starts with an honest question, hypothesis, and the real scientist is minimally emotional about the subsequent answer.

Particular in the 1930’s, the weather and climate extremes were much worse than anything we’ve seen so far in the 21st century. In terms of the worst landfall hurricane, the worst heat wave, the worst drought, the worst fires, and on and on it goes. If you look at the paleo climate record, you can extend even further back and see evidence of greater extremes.

If you can do your job remotely you can have the best of both worlds. California pay without the taxes and cost of living. :woot:

Yes Chris!

I have two gas guzzlers that average about 10 mpg (911 Turbo and AMG 63 Wagon), but I only drive about 1,800 miles a year because I choose to live near work (two miles). So my total gasoline use is less than most Prius drivers.

Ultimately the worst thing one can do for the environment is have a kid. All else pales into insignificance, unless you happen to be the guy steering the Exxon Valdez.

I love my kids but it has been the worst thing for my savings and 401K. Disney stock might have been a better buy!

The Earth may be a better place if we were all gone, at least for about 4.5Billion years.

…but I am happy to have been the result of a star lighting it’s own fart.

A lot of people are doing that, but I need to touch things with my hands at work - and have a long commute. OTOH I bought my condo in about 1990, so the real-estate market has been good to me.

It has started in Europe:

Geneva is the busiest corporate aviation / GA field in Europe. The writing was on the wall. Expect such action to come to this side of the pond.

Business jets - hits all the notes: elite, mostly male, mostly white male, easily tracked, and low passenger miles per gallon.

Then SUVs.

Then private cars.

Then ribeyes and eggs.

Eat your crickets you racist-patriarchal-capitalist-cisgender reprobates.

There's less than 24,000 private jets in the entire world.

There's 1441 BILLION cars in the world.

Private jets make up such a minute amount of the problem that it is laughable to even respond to the critics.
Might be missing a decimal point...

How is that good?

Private aviation is very green

If it wasn’t all those who are always going on and on about “the environment” wouldn’t be flying in private jets, yet they are

Same thing with the ones who make money off selling climate fear and “global warming” and sea rise and buy a oceanfront home

The whole thing is a hilarious scam to get some elites even more rich

It would be nice if more people wernt so fear based and gullible
