If Garmin had zero interest in installing the GFC in the Citation 500 series, the chances of an MU-2 AP are slim to none.

Where did you learn that? If Garmin has said they aren't going to ever do the 500 series, I'd like to verify that information since it will change what a lot of people are going to do to their planes when it comes to upgrading.

Garmin has said in the past they are interested in 500 series, but have prioritized other projects ahead of it.

There is a GFC 600 STC for the CJ series, so we know the GFC 600 does a decent job of flying a Citation as the 525 series basically flies the same as a 500 series.

MU2 essentially requires a functional autopilot to be flown single pilot per part 91 subpart N.

91.1717 Operating requirements.

(a) Except as provided in paragraph (b) of this section, no person may operate a Mitsubishi MU-2B airplane in single pilot operations unless that airplane has a functional autopilot.


Paragraph (b) limits you to day VFR otherwise.

Anything that flies at RVSM altitudes, such a Citation. also needs a functional autopilot.
