What’s the insurance premium for the MU2? What limits can you carry with it? What are the typical pilot times/ratings are required?[/quote]

I don't know what pilot times/ratings are required. It probably depends a bit on the underwriter, the value of the hull, and the liability requested. I used to carry $2M smooth. As the market hardened, I dropped that to $1M smooth. Hull coverage is set at $500K. Premiums have increased some. Mine was $16K last year. I have about 4000 hrs/ATP. Almost all flights with others are for business and passengers are employees or partners in my practice, which does affect the risk profile for the underwriter. Rest of travel is with family.

The 421 is very comfortable for passengers.

what kind of speeds and fuel burns do you get mid to high teens ?
Do you find it hard to get parts?

I fly a baron 58 and a king air 350 but looking at a 414a also been looking at 340 but need a potty.

what should I look out for when looking at these aircraft?
and any other info if you have it

38/hr on fuel flow and around 190-200 on the speeds.

Parts haven’t been a problem for me. I broaden the horizons by looking at new, refurbished, or salvage. Always bought new though. Known a lot of guys that have gone salvage and been really surprised at the success they have had.

That is for the ‘275 backup display. If you chose another page on the 275 display during flight and have to quickly return to the ADI page that switch gets you there. It is a requirement of the STC.

I believe with Class III installations the backup must remain in ADI mode and all other pages are disabled.

That is correct and that is exactly why I don’t have one in my 414. That plus the much higher cost of the Class III version. Let’s see - higher cost and reduced functionality. What a sales concept Garmin.

Blame the FAA, not Garmin.

That's one small advantage of the 340 - it was certified at 5,990 lbs so it's class II and avionics are significantly cheaper. STCs that change the gross weight to more than 6,000 lbs do not bump the plane up to class III.

Garmin is in control of half of that equation -- they could reduce the price of a 275 crippled because it is a backup instrument. But I suppose they can't control someone moving the instrument to a new location without paying the up-charge.

My panel is almost exactly like Chad's. My 275 has all pages disabled except for the ADI Mode. I was looking forward to the functionality of the 275 but a class III install limits it.

Yeah its strange that a shop would not only install the switch that is incorrect, they enabled all the other pages.
