How fast is the c414 and c421 down low and up high?

Our 421 makes exactly book speeds. At 20,000 ft at 65% power and 38.4gph we see 212 true. If you pushed to 70% it says 230 but I never push it that hard. At 10,000 ft we see 195 kts.

Our 414A at 73% power will do 185-190 TAS at 5K-10K, 20K it will do 210-220 True.

for 20gph more and using cheaper to buy Jet A you would see 262KTAS in an MU-2 F, just sayin...newer MU2s would be 30KTAS faster than that at FL 270-280 on a little more fuel flow...if one is looking at ANY pressurized piston twin they should at least look into an MU2 and might well find the operating expenses to be comparable and have a much better plane to boot...this is why I fly an MU2 and not a 421 FWIW.

N421EE C421 speeds...
Power settings are always 32.5/1800 unless altitude is above FL250.
It has hubcaps and winglets but no strakes.

Definitely a consideration but how do the short body mu2s cabin compare to the 414 and 421 cabin? Don't some 421s have a potty? Any MU2's have that option. Potty is usually pretty popular with the women and for kids.

What is the fuel burn for those tables when under the ROP and LOP?

Most longbody MU-2s have a potty behind a partition, a very few short MU-2s have a potty but there's no good way to get privacy.

If you are only flying 100 hours per year and most trips are less than 500 kn there is not difference between a 421C and a MU2.

No doubt I’d love an MU2, and we have considered it several times. However it won’t fit in our hangar which is a non-starter for us. Also, despite the lower cost of jet-A and faster speeds, many other costs are higher from what I can tell like acquisition and insurance. I was told to expect 30k plus for insurance IF I could even get it. I pay 8 for the 421.

If you are flying shorter trips in the high teens the mu2 is not much faster and burns more fuel.

ROP is 45 gph, LOP is 35 gph.

Ah, yeah there will be.

Add a 100 knot headwind and see how the 500 nm trip goes in a 421 versus an MU2.

300 knots is meaningfully faster than 200 knots, even on relatively short trips.

Almost the exact same set up I have. I love it and after 25 hrs am still learning new capabilities every flight.
