Baggage is seldom misplaced when flying private.

Yes, you are the only one who has ever done that. My flight bag has a change of clothes, pajamas, toothbrush, toiletries, etc, so I ALWAYS have an overnight bag with me when I am flying. I consider that safety equipment so I can make the go, no go decision with minimal external influence. Even on day trips, I instruct my passengers to take a small overnight bag with them. Since I have put that policy into place, we have never had to use them, so the policy is working quite well. I find every emergency I prepare for doesn't happen, so I prepare for them all. It's working so far! Mike C.

The one time I had a day trip where the thunderstorms started popping, I had NO problem having the cab driver stop at a drug store for toothbrushes, toothpaste, and a comb. My GF at the time and my young cousin.
I do NOT mess with thunderstorms or ice.

I flew to Ottawa first week in Dec and had my bag but left my coat in my car. Thankfully it was low 30s all week and not colder.

Quote: Good opportunity to buy a new wardrobe. Another reason: Had another crew take our passenger's bags and load them... fortunately we found out before they started engines.

Went to Roswell once to witness some flight testing. Citation down, took an hour or an hour and a half. Airline back, Metro to DFW, Brasilia to ICT, took all day. At least I got to experience my once in a lifetime water injection takeoff. After it was too late, I was told there was a Citation ride back available that I didn't know about and was sort of last minute planned.

With one exception, I take the airlines only if I am crossing on ocean, like Europe or Hawaii. The one exception was to Flightsafety to get my single pilot exemption for the Citation. I couldn't fly there myself, alas. Mike C.

Makes you feel sorry for the people that must fly commercial. Especially Southwest. Bragging much? But in all fairness, I wish I could be bragging about my citation as well....

Username Protected wrote: Baggage is seldom misplaced when flying private. More than once I've managed to leave something I intended to bring in the trunk of the car I drove to the airport. But I've never had anything I brought along damaged. I participate in several waterski tournaments that are far enough away that some or most of the other contestants fly commercially depending on the distance. At almost every National event there are always one or two who had their $2000-3000 ski lost or destroyed on the way there. Kinda takes the fun out of it. One friend watched from the airline window as the baggage crew hooked the carrying strap of his ski bag onto the back of a cart and then proceeded to drag the ski across the tarmac, grinding off about 6 inches along the way.
