I find this interesting and useful but think it deserves its own “heading” to keep it all in one place that can be found when needed.

Should we call it “Hanger Talk?”

Airport Talk would make more sense and include other airport issues besides hangars.

I’m pretty sure he’s just trolling Arnie.

We read about a lot of issues including complaints about how airports operate, or should operate.

Anyone based at a federally funded airport who questions the operation of the airport by airport management should read the Airport Compliance Manual FAA Order 5190.6b. It says it's not regulatory, but it is frequently cited by FAA in decisions in informal and formal complaints.

And I can assure you that most small airport operators don't have a clue what's in it or familiarity of their FAA grant assurances.

If you have a complaint about your airport, arm yourself with those first.

<snipped other quotes>
….not trolling him but certainly a lover of his Babble Talk thread.

Yes, Airport Talk would seem logical!
I always think of Hangar Flying when I see the Plane Talk description

Sure would be useful. You never know when you need to go back and read all the related threads to see if something applies to your situation .

Nowhere else has the same broad base of airport users to pull from.

Thought I'd add a happy note! Our airport manager was against GA. No one knows why but the board called her in and fired her. The position is now held by a husband/wife team who are both GA pilots. We are now having pilot appreciation days. The whole mood of the place has changed. There are plans to build more hangars, t-hangars and a restaurant!
Kindly,
Ralph KILM

It's beneficial to have Airport Days or open houses inviting the public to the airport, having a barbecue, aircraft displays, and low cost airplane rides. EAA Young Eagles rides really have a positive effect on the community who in turn become advocates for the airport.

Community support for the local airport is golden; anti-airport sentiment isn't.

I would love a dedicated sub-forum for these topics as well. We just recently purchased an airpark lot and I'm researching all things related to building a hangar and it is a bit of a challenge as-is.

I also love to read about the general airport topics. I used to attend our local airport advisory board meetings just to keep up with my home base issues.

Another vote for an "airport talk" subforum. We are working through some challenges with hangar space availability and high costs at KSAV as the FBO's are shifting focus abruptly to higher revenue transients at the expense of base tenants.

It would be great to have a more focused place to share info and learn with folks at other airports.

Make that three! When I have some time I'd like to share my 2yr+ ordeal to get to the point I was ready to build a hangar only to be grounded by the build quotes.

Share away, I was just awarded opportunity to build and am actively scouting quotes now, what was the trouble for you? Was this at MQY?
