I'm sure it is short list of swept wing jets.
What's the smallest/cheapest thing that goes that fast? It ain’t a real jet if it can’t do 0.7M or better.

What's the smallest/cheapest thing that goes that fast? It would be a real long list. Even the faster straight wing Citations can crack .70, I think.

We see Mach .77 - .78 regularly in our Phenom 300E, but it ain't cheap.

Yesterday, 0.71M, 408 KTAS, FL410, ISA. I wasn't at MCT, but 2% off max N1 just to be a little more efficient. I have cruised as fast as 424 KTAS, 0.74M. Mmo is 0.755M, 433 KTAS at FL410. It gets progressively more complex to go faster than about 0.75M. Swept wings, complex aerodynamics, etc. You lose the simplicity and runway performance of the straight wing. Since I can use shorter runways, my door to door performance can be better than a 0.84M jet that has to find a longer runway further from the destination. Most of the airliners I hear on frequency are routinely doing 0.76M to 0.78M, so I am not a lot slower than they are. They can go faster, above 0.80M if they want to, but they use more fuel. Mike C.

Mike C. Quick sidebar: I was descending into ATL a few months ago: ATC: "Delta 69, what's your mach?" Me: ".83" (which is normal cruise for the 330-900) ATC: "MAN! That's awesome - I gotta get me one of them..... aaaaaaaaaanyway - slow to .78" Me: Back to discussing jets I can't afford.

At 430 or 450 the 2 and 2+ do mmo on astonishingly low fuel burn.
-Citation Jet Exchange Hmm, I must be missing something. I looked at the Citation M2 spec page and it says, " Maximum Limit Speed 0.71 Mach (0.71 Mach)" I took that to be a limitation, rather than a normal cruise speed.
