There is an MSU based at Long Beach. They would have jacks for sure. I'd bet many other shops have it, too, just got to call around. Nothing too special about the jacks, the real key pieces are the jack pads. I don't presently carry those as spares, but I am considering it. A place that has such things for reasonable money: https://bogertaviation.com/collections/ ... s-jack-padMike C.

Sorry to hear that Michael. However… …looking forward to pictures of your new masterpiece you are rebuilding!

For the cost of the extra fuel, you could have bought a set. Aircraftspruce is in Corona, CA. What did you need done? Usually any gear issue also requires a hydraulic mule, which is the much harder thing to find. I once flew gear down due to a slightly misrigged squat switch. But I now know that can be fixed in 5 minutes without jacking the airplane. Mike C.

I hope no one tells Greta about this. Just how low and slow are we talking here? I assume gear operating speed is 176 KIAS, although not sure if it's ok to fly faster with extended gear. 176 KIAS is sometimes above max range speed (gear up) when you're in the flight levels. Will be interesting to know how much additional fuel flow you'll need to compensate for gear down. Or how much speed you lose using the normal gear-up fuel flow. Of course, flying in icing conditions with gear down might be an issue, so I imagine that could force you to stay low.

It burned an extra 450lbs, ferry permit day vfr So the gear being down didn’t make a huge difference

Just a little trick I learned Mike you can swing the gear on jacks by starter motoring an engine if you have to

Also, not sure that would create enough pressure to uplock the main gear on my airplane. That is the most critical pressure time. Mike C.

Username Protected wrote: Ferry permit? Is that because you can't make the OEI climb gradient with the gear down? Inoperative gear in not the MMEL, so the plane in unairworthy if the gear can't swing. The only relief in the MMEL for landing gear is anti ski inoperative. Mike C.
