Saw this on the internet today, lead story calls it a Sampson Switchblade, I am familiar with that it is a US Flying car. This looks to be from Europe but it is flying. Story suggests FAA has given approval, this on a European aircraft? https://youtu.be/jf3I0ORN3acSamson Switchblade article claims Switchblade electric VTOL approved for flight, Switchblade is neither electric or VTOL. https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=593c80cb ... dG1s&ntb=1Like Abe Lincoln said, you cannot always believe what you see in the internet.

I can't open the links but I might suggest they need a new name. People won't want to ride on something that is going to crash itself into a tank.

Links worked for me.
The switchblade looks very interesting to me. With my commute, this concept could work most days. Short drive, short flight, short drive.

I'd find it a lot more appealing if it were possible to just lift off from the road when you got stuck in a traffic jam. I wonder how much insurance would cost once the underwriters discover that a minor fender bender could result in a $100k+ damage claim?

Flying cars make no sense to me. You end up with a terrible car mashed up with a terrible airplane and it costs more than both combined. Reminds me of the boat cars, same thing - crappy car that floats.
Now a spaceship submarine, that I would like to see.

Really can't say much about any of these without knowing the useful load, and *measured* flight performance. Its easy to say your new flying car will cruise at 200mph on a 1.6 liter engine, but the pictures don't look very aerodynamic relative to say a bonanza which does 200mph on a ~300hp engine (cruising at ~200hp).
The videos show something (well 2 different things) that doesn't have a lot of wing and a body that looks like it has a lot of parasitic drag.
Of course who knows how much power they are claiming for a 1.6L engine, but it its above 200 continuous cruise HP, that also seems surprising if you want a >1000 hour TBO

Looks like they are now claiming a 160mph at 9.5gph cruise on their website at 1850 max gross. I don't see a useful load

Username Protected wrote: I don't see a useful load It has one? The hybrid drive train will be seriously heavy. There is some cleverness to the design but from a business point of view, nobody wants a bad car and a bad airplane. Good airplane + Uber beats this every day. Mike C.

Mike C. The only use case I can see for a roadable airplane is for a VFR pilot to land and drive part way on a trip to avoid IMC. With a vehicle like this you could legally and fairly safely scud run at zero AGL.
